Summary: 
SGIC is seeking a Product Development Manager who will be responsible for the overall success of the company’s Accident & Health product lines.  They will be responsible for the development of new products and on-going management of current products. This role will include planning, building, state filings, collateral creation, and implementation of all products.
 
Additionally, the Product Development Manager will be responsible for the ongoing success of a product or service, acting as the Subject Matter Expert to support customer service, marketing, and the carriers Third Party Administrator.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- You will have operational involvement in delivering product changes and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets in collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
- Assist with the analysis of existing products, you will be seeking opportunities to enhance our product offering, making recommendations underpinned by data and customer driven insights.
- Research and suggest new products for development.
- Be dedicated to delivering the maximum impact with the minimum effort, releasing value early wherever possible, creating a sense of urgency and momentum.
- Ensuring stakeholders are kept up to date and that we deliver in an efficient manner, breaking down changes into smaller value chunks and iterating through delivery.
- Collaborates, compromises in the right way, and has experience in leading varied groups to swift decisions.
- Has good organizational skills with an eye for detail (ability to see small details in large data)
- Is able to plan, prioritize and adapt in a busy and thriving environment.
- Remain abreast of the latest industry trends and technology.
- Meet with clients and other key stakeholders.     
 
 Supervisory Responsibilities:  
- This role does not include supervisory duties immediately but may involve leading a project or overseeing staff in the future as the position evolves.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
Experience and/or Education:
- A college degree is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in the insurance industry related to Accident and Health product design.
- A good understanding of underwriting principles and risk selection.
- Experience creating detailed reports and presentations.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of product design and strategy. 
- A track record of successfully making and keeping commitments.
 
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in using software programs such as MS Word, ACCESS, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook, Electronic Health Records.
 
Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:
Work is performed in an office and occasional travel/driving will be necessary. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active customer and employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system; enter alpha-numeric data into a computerized system often while listening on the telephone.May be subject to extensive sitting, repetitive motion such as typing, data entry and vision to monitor. May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping, and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.

- Secure environment: A private, locked workspace must be maintained to prevent exposure of PHI to family members, visitors, or others.
- Company-approved technology only: All work must be performed on secure, company-issued devices using encrypted connections (VPN required).
 
You will be required to complete HIPAA training upon hire and annually thereafter. Any breach of confidentiality or unauthorized disclosure of patient information may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination and may carry legal consequences under state or federal law.
